I Need You

It's been a rough week so far. Another snow day (bringing our official count to 11 snow days since January), another school delay, boy #1 being sick, and a general feeling of too much togetherness combined with being cooped up in the house culminated in some general ugliness this morning as we attempted to get out the door for school and preschool. Sin compounded upon sin. Noise, chaos, and unkind words swirled, which unleashed my own frustration and yelling to try to tame the morning (note to self:  that doesn't work!). Ugh.

But then we got in the car to drop Owen off at preschool, I turned on the radio and "Lord, I Need You" came on the radio. I instantly felt my soul breathe. What true words. In those times of my own frustration with noise, chaos, or unkind words flung by the littles living in our home, what better prayer to lift up than "Lord, I Need You!" In those moments of ugly which can so quickly escalate to more ugly, those are the exact moments when I really need Jesus. May this be my prayer today and every day.

"Lord, I Need You"

Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You're the One that guides my heart

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus, You're my hope and stay

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

You're my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
