Vacation in Florida

Brennan and I had a father-son vacation recently that took us to Sarasota and Orlando. We had a great week staying with my parents and also visiting old PI and church friends up in Orlando. Brennan had lots of quality time with his Grammy and Grampy, his Uncle Dave and Aunt Ann and cousins Katie, Matthew and Timmy (who is only six months older than him). Highlights were: going to the beach and playing in the sand, Brennan eating his first whole hamburger, summer clothes shopping with Grammy (for both of us), Brennan putting his moves on Phoebe Kim (his moves = chasing her around the Kings' patio) and lots of fun reunions with people we hadn't seen in a year. Here are some pictures from the week...

Laundry Day Fun

Brennan has been starting to take an interest in the laundry. He finds shutting the dryer door fascinating and the laundry hamper is great fun as well. Getting a jump start on the weekend, I worked on a couple loads of laundry today, which resulted in an empty hamper and a great deal of fun!

Only in Virginia?

Last weekend (and earlier this week), we enjoyed 9 inches of snow and freezing cold temperatures. This weekend, the snow is melted and we are enjoying weather in the 70 + degree range! Off to the park we went--along with everyone else in Richmond.

Snow Exploration

In light of the many inches of snow that have so graciously blessed us with their presence, Brennan and I bundled up and ventured out in the cold for a little snow exploration.

He was pretty unsure of what to think of the snow and ice when we first got outside. It took him a little while to start walking around on his own, but once he got the hang of it, he thought it was pretty fun.

Trying to figure out what all this stuff is on his mittens after plopping down on the snowbank.

Enjoying watching the big kids try sledding. Maybe remembering when he got to do this at Christmas time?

Winter Storm

Yesterday evening, we went to bed to only about 4 inches of snow--with 4-6 inches promised by the weather forecast. This morning, we woke up to all this! Now, this probably seems old hat to some of you, but this was fantastic for us! We haven't seen it snow this much in a long time, and neither has Richmond. The entire city is shut down today. The news has been saying that it's the most snow Richmond has seen since January 2000! Brennan and I get a snow day, but John is going to attempt the trek in to work. Due to the nature of his job, he doesn't get a snow day :(

Woo-hoo!

Does this remind anyone else of Narnia?

I wanted to find out how much snow we got, so it was up to the trusty ruler to tell me. On our deck, it measured in at 9 inches and is still falling as I type!

Welcome, March!

The first day of March has brought us snow and freezing rain. We've definitely enjoyed watching all the precipitation from the snug confines of the house!

And this one is just because he's so stinkin' cute...
